Lens Artists Challenge – Inspiration
The photo challenge this week is ‘Inspiration’.
What is inspiration?
It’s the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something;
to do something creative; the quality of something being inspiring.

Our tour bus took us to various places on the island of Aruba.
A charming tiny church was one of the stops.
I always like to go to local churches on vacation and photograph them.
There are tremendous differences in sizes
and architectural designs from one church to another.

Unfortunately, I can’t recall the name of the church. It seats 15 people inside.
The rest of the congregation sits outside on concrete benches.
The community gathered together to raise funds to build it.
Labor was from the locals who reside nearby.

A modest altar inside the church. The pews were wood with a high back and kneeler.
There was a humbling spirit energy in every inch of the interior.
One could not help but walk away feeling inspired by its simplicity.
Memories will last a lifetime, things only a short period of time.©AlyceEdrich

I’m so pleased you enjoyed my selections for the challenge. Yes, there is room for only 15 inside however concrete becnhes were placed in a semi-circle pattern outside for the overflow of people. The priest wears a microphone that can be heard outside. It spelled DEVOTION to me since ARuba can get HOT HOT during the day. Their climate is like our southwest climate. Have a great day … Be Safe

what a nice idea, to have a church that only seats people and then the outside can be the gathering place (this could be helpful for churches that are “mortgage poor” and for churches that become too caught in their budding and get all “country club” like rather than outrace and unity minded
anyhow, lovely idea for the theme and the clouds and blue sky add to the inspired vibe

It was such a beautiful day when I took these photographs.
I was captivated by the chapel that I forgot to photograph the outside concrete benches.
The people can hear the sermon from a microphone. I wish they would have had service that day.
I think that’s a good reason to go back. ~~~ : – ) Thank you …

What a beautiful little chapel Izzy and I love that they built it themselves. You’re right. Very inspirational

It was charming to see the reverence the people have for their religion.
The outside concrete benches are in a half-circle facing the entrance.
The priest uses a microphone so they can hear the services. I wish
I had taken a photo of the benches. I’ll just have to go back. ~~~ : – )
Thank you, Tina.
Have a great day … Be Safe
