Photograph taken at the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium. It’s located in Sarasota, Florida. A fun educational museum featuring exhibits of marine life. There’s a laboratory for the care of injured marine life.
Lionfish have 18 venomous spines: 2 pelvic spines, and 13 dorsal spines.

Pterois is a genus of venomous marine fish, commonly known as lion fish, native to the Indo-Pacific. Also called zebra fish, fire fish, turkey fish, tasty fish or butterfly-cod. It’s characterized by conspicuous warning colorization with red, white, creamy, or black bands showy pectoral fins, and venomous spike sin rays.

Blue Tang is the common name of several species of surgeonfish. Ctenochaetus binotatus, commonly known as the two spot surgeonfish, is a tang fish native to the Indo-Pacific region.

Corals are marine invertebrates within the class Anthozoa of the phylum Cindaria. They typically live in compact colonies of many identical individual polyps. Coral species include the important reef builders that inhabit tropical oceans and secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton.

Perfect, Isadora! In Sweden we call them Zebra fish, so now I learned a new name or two for them. Beautifully photographed!

Our favorite outings, when we can venture out during these difficult times, are going to various museums. There’s a great deal of information one can learn at them.
