Lens Artists Photo Challenge – From Forgettable to Favorite
Gardenias are evergreen shrubs or small trees with dark green, leathery leaves and white flowers . Gardenia is a genus of flowering plants in the coffee family.©wikipedia

Photograph taken at my former home. I had a beautiful gardenia bush in my garden. I loved the perfume scent coming through my window in the Spring. It’s the one item I wish I could have taken with me. Sadly, I’ve planted several in my new residence only to have them wilt away. The photo above is the original.

When I edited this photograph, I noticed the raindrops were much more visible.

The bright white color in the photograph above showcases the beauty of a gardenia flower.

I don’t use sepia too often. In this photo I played around with the background more.

Playing with the different effects, I found this opalescent effect.
It shows the veins on the leaves but changes the white I love in the gardenia.

Thanks, Amy. I enjoy playing with all of the edits on my program. They don’t always come out great but it’s about having fun.

I appreciate your great comment about my photographs this week, John. I use clone and then add a dark shadow to the background.

These are great examples of how the mood of a photo can be so different using different techniques. The flower is gorgeous. Of these, my favorite is the black background which really emphasizes the purity and beauty of the flower. Thanks for sharing your approaches Izzy, very creative!

HMMM I can smell them all! The second edit seems to be the most frequent 😊

I believe you’re right about the second photograph. I think it’s because it showcases the white of
the flower. Yes, their scent is intoxicating. Thanks for visiting and leaving your comment.

Congrats on getting the vaccine. We have long, long lines to get the shots. There trying to put into place a program to get shots at a local pharmacy. Fingers crossed. : ) I am well.
Thank you for asking, Carol. I agree white flowers seem to be the best when adding new edits. Stay safe 😷

Good for you for making the Clementine cake. I’m making one for Chinese New Year. Giving half to my daughter and her husband to save the calories
