I chose this photograph because of the way the orchid branch looks like it is floating …

Photographing flowers is my favorite form of photography. I started photographing flowers because I grow orchids as a hobby. One year, the weather was very erratic. Several of my orchids had beautiful blooms, but with the erratic temps climbing up and down, the flowers faded very fast. I was disappointed I hadn’t thought of photographing them.

I chose this photograph because I loved the way the yellow center pops.

The white and purple petals faded into the background too

which gave this photo a bit of drama.

It was quite large, so I thrilled I was able to capture it.

I chose this photograph because of the way the colors.

There is an abundant array of orchid colors and genuses. I’ve been growing them for about 14 years. I have had one bloom like this, only once, but in a lavendar color. These were photographed at the Selby Orchid Gardens in Sarasota, Florida.
