Lens Artists Challenge – A Labor of Love
The photo challenge this week is ‘A Labor of Love’: a task done for pleasure not reward.
Generally, our eyes devour images of food far quicker than our palates taste them.
Food preparation onboard cruise ships are meant to capture our desires for delectable scrumptious foods.
The chefs are creating ‘A Labor of Love’ with food for you.
We were fortunate to be able to take a tour of the ship’s kitchen.
There are specific chefs for carving fruits and vegetables to delight your eyes.
It’s quite a skill. I’ve added a video below showing the technique.

Ooopppsss … I missed this comment, Leya. They’re mainly put on the tables as decor. I’ve never seen any being eaten. Perhaps, in the kitchen after dinners. Glad you enjoyed … Have a wonderful day … Be Safe

What a fun idea Izzy – and those little lemon fish look like something even I might accomplish! Beautiful images all.

I love food art and it seems the cruise chefs know what they are doing
And side note –
Or question – are cruises back in business yet?

What a joyful post! I’m so glad you chose food preparation as a labor of love, because we’ve noted that as well on our cruise ships. The food is not only appealing, it’s downright artsy. And your photos captured the labors well! (My favorite is the photo with the lemons — they make me smile!) Thanks for participating this week and adding color and delight to the mix of posts.

I do notice the cooks strive to create food that’s appealingly colorful to the eyes.
I’m lose my appetite if there’s too much food on a plate. It was a joy the first time we cruised to see the food presented in tasty small portions. No buffets for me … lol
The carrots were from the chefs carving example. I think that’s why it was simply done. Thanks for popping over and commenting. I appreciate it very much.

I’m thinking that buffets will be measurably different on future cruises, if we have them at all!

Wow. Amazing talent. Those cruise ships are more than just ‘floating cities’.

Yes, they are more than floating cities. Sadly, with COVID, I think they may be changing many of their ways. Thanks, John.
Have a wonderful week … Be Safe
